Game Bugs

Airfix Dogfighter has a few known bugs,some of which are discusssed here.

Multiplayer Games

Joining or hosting games is quite a lottery, sometimes it works and sometimes it dosnt.See the Multiplayer Help page for help with joining games.One of the biggest drawbacks of afd is its instability.You can start hosting a multiplayer game and all goes well, then suddenly everyone else vanishes, they imediatly try to rejoin but even using the console cant connect.If this happens its best to quit the game completly and start again.Sometimes the game just crashes leaving you staring at a windows error reporting box that you must click on to get back to windows, If you try hitting the windows key or alt-tabbing then your pc will freeze and youll have to do a risky and potentially damaging reset.

Ghostflyer Bug

There is a bug which i shall call the "GhostFlyer Bug".This is where one or more of the players in a multiplayer game become invisible,either just on radar or completly! This mainly happens when using one of the attic maps in a multiplayer game.It can be quite annoying and can only be fixed by the flyer who is invisible leaving and rejoining, or the host restarting the game.

Spawn Jam

Ocassionally, usually whilst playing on another server, you can become jammed in a spawn situation. The game simply will not allow you to spawn. You have to shutdown Airfix Dogfighter completely, restart and rejoin. Going back to the game menu and trying to rejoin usually leaves you in the same "spawn jammed" state.

Out Of Bounds Bug

There is the "Out of Bounds" bug.This enables the flyers to leave the normal boundaries of the game and play.Some players have found a way to place furniture in this"out of bounds" area creating some great new multiplayer maps." Boxing wars" is one(perhaps the best)of these maps,screenshots below(click for fullsize)

Graphics

Another problem I have experienced is when the normal graphics textures are replaced with blocks of white. This occurs sometimes when you use Alt and Tab to switch from the game to other windows tasks. Screenshots of this graphics problem are shown below:

Disappearing IP Address Book

Ocassionally the ip address book just dissappears as shown below(click for fullsize)

I have found that this can happen if during the initial setup of airfix dogfighter,the "cancel" button(see below) is pressed

If this happens then you need to have a record of your friends ip addresses in order to replace them There is an up to date list of active servers here
Just copy the list between these 2 lines in the User.ini(User) file located in the main game directory:

(copy IP server addresses..)
sets detail_effects "80"(or sets detail_effects "100")
